Ron Ehrlich is from Providence, Rhode Island. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut in 1976 and subsequently studied art in Japan at Joji Yamasita, Bizen Province (1979-83), Kansas City Art Institute, Kansas City, MO (1984-86), and at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI (1986-88). Ron intermingles oil, wax, shellac, and crayons employing brushes, palette knives, and even blowtorches to blend and fuse a glistening mix. He favors a restrained palette to create images of balance and refinement. Using the point of a nail to inscribe simple outlines into the paint he creates an array of vessels, bowls, stools, and, in many cases, primitive-looking horses. Since 1980, Ehrlich's work has been shown widely in the United States and overseas. He is currently appearing in galleries in New York City and Atlanta, Georgia. In 1998 He received the Fritz Eichenberg Award from the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts.
